Recently i have the need to setup a virtual fabric between switches (Vertical Switching Framework) VFS. This would allow me to have 2 switches act as one for fail over purposes. i have been looking around at many different switches till i decided to go with the entry level Aruba form HP Enterprise.<\/p>\n
setting up VSF (Vertical Switching Framework) can sometimes bit a bit tricky and i have found the easiest way to do this.<\/p>\n
config)# configure<\/pre>\n
config)# vsf member 1 link 1 49<\/pre>\n
config)# vsf enable domain 1<\/pre>\n<\/p>\n
now connect switch 2 to switch 1 on port 49. remember you should not have configured anything on switch 2. once you connect the two switches, switch 2 will reboot.<\/p>\n

Adding Second link<\/h2>\n

- open The CLI interface using SSH or the Serial cable<\/li>\n
- Go into configuration mode<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
config)# configure<\/pre>\n\n
- Added the second port to Member 1 (Switch 1)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
(config)# vsf member 1 link 1 1\/50<\/pre>\n\n
- Add the second port to Member 2 (Switch 2)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
(config)# vsf member 2 link 1 2\/50<\/pre>\nConnect up the two ports and you are ready to go.<\/p>\n
